Pool Room Owners Rules a National 8-Ball Tournament

Angie Voorhees, proves that pool hall owners are not necessarily frustrated pool players. Voorhees, who owns a pool room in Rockford, along with her team, took the prestigious title of the Bowling Congress of America's Master Team National Championship, held recently in Las Vegas.

The 8-ball tournament, organized by the Bowling Congress of America drew the world's top amateur team players. The Rockford, Illinois pool room owner won the women's masters division together with her 5-players team. Voorhees, who is certified billiard instructor, took home the first prize of $5,000.

Being used to spend most of her time managing the pool room, Angie Voorhees admits starting to feel exhausted on the fifth round of the 10-game tournament. However, the intensive experience had taught her how to get the most of her disadvantage. And, she adds, the winning has certainly encouraged her to get involved in more pool tournaments and events.
